Chris holds a Master of Music from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach. Like many musicians, Chris began music lessons at a young age, starting with the violin at age 5. He started piano shortly thereafter. At age 10, he felt a deep connection with the cello and later added guitar, bass, and drums as well. Singing came naturally to him as well, as he grew up singing at church and in choirs.
Chris had to be versatile as the lead instructor and coordinator at Guitar Center where he taught private lessons as well as the group music “Rock Show” classes, teaching collaborative and performance skills. Later he co-founded a free music outreach program called “Everybody Rocks” in the Rockwood area of Portland, Oregon. Chris has also had experience as a church music director and coach for praise teams, children’s choirs, and classical ensembles throughout the West Coast. More recently, at California State University, Long Beach, Chris managed the University Symphony and coordinated rehearsals, masterclasses, and the strings program as a Graduate Assistant.
Chris also composes, arranges, and performs in a variety of styles, ranging from classical to rock to experimental. He has released countless albums and his music has been featured on films across the globe. Chris loves teaching and it is clear to see that he fully engages with each student or program he is working with to provide a holistic, relevant, and meaningful music education experience. He is accredited in the Royal Conservatory of Music, Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and the Music Teachers Association of California Certificate of Merit programs, helping students reach the highest levels of excellence for college preparation and beyond.
