Rooted in Yorba Linda, CA, Matt teaches guitar, piano, voice, and theory lessons. He started his musical journey in elementary school choir, followed up in middle school and ultimately got into piano and proper lessons when he was 12 years old. He took lessons through high school, while in choir, until he decided to pursue music further at Fullerton College in 2015. In 2018 He transferred to California State Long Beach where he majored in Music Education where vocal music became his area of focus, and picked up guitar in the process. He currently sings and plays piano and guitar as the worship leader at his church in addition to teaching.

He studied piano under Kim O’Brien (The Music Abode), Mark Uranker (CSULB), and Althea Waites (CSULB); Guitar under Mike Higgins (CSULB) and Larry Samson (Mo’s Fullerton Music Center); Theory under Bruce Miller (Fullerton College) and Luke Hannington (CSULB); and voice from John Buffett (CSULB). He believes that improvisation and being creative are just as important as learning written musical works.
